About Me

My Photo
Jerzy Drozd
As a cartoonist, I've worked for publishers and self-published my own comics stories. Here's a list of some things I'm known for:

  • The Front: Rebirth, an all-ages action/adventure graphic novel
  • Sugary Serials, an online and print comics anthology inspired by Saturday morning cartoons
  • PPV: Pay-Per View, a comics mini-series I did for Antarctic Press
  • The Calamity Kids, a series of short stories I did for the Glencoe McGraw-Hill Backpack Reader series

I also work as a freelance illustrator. Some of my past clients include:
  • Marvel Comics
  • The Arizona Department of Tourism
  • The Arizona Nutrition Network
  • Wachovia Bank
  • Brain Age games for Nintendo

I'm a teaching artist as well, which is one of my favorite jobs. I teach comics classes and lead presentations on comics year-round in the southeast Michigan area and beyond. Here are some of the places at which I've led classes or presentations:

  • The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts
  • ArtServe Michigan
  • University of Michigan-Flint
  • University of Toledo
  • Ann Arbor District Library
  • Chelsea District Library (as the Artist in Residence)
I co-organize the annual Kids Read Comics Celebration, a free comics event that offers a family-friendly artist alley, drawing demos, and free hands-on workshops for kids and adults.

Lastly, I'm known for creating audio and video shows about comics. I host a weekly show recorded live at the Ann Arbor District Library called Comics Are Great! along with many other shows available on my website.
